In Aotearoa, people, place and connection are bound by stories. Only through these stories can we understand and appreciate our relationship with Te Ao Māori, Mana Whenua and Whenua.
Our Cultural Journey
Rātā Foundation has been on a journey of maramatanga (understanding) - one that brings us closer to understanding the aspirations of Iwi, Hapū, and Whānau across Waitaha, Te Tau Ihu o te Waka-a-Māui.
Rātā Foundation’s journey is one whakawhanaungatanga, making connections and relationships with Iwi, Hapū and whānau. Those relationships and connections guide Rātā to better understand and support the aspirations of Māori for a shared future - kotahitanga.
We fund community organisations across our funding rohe of Waitaha, Te Tau Ihu o te Waka-a-Māui and Wharekauri to strengthen whānau, hapū and iwi, and improve wellbeing in our Māori communities.
We believe in order to make a difference, we need to have an understanding of the needs, issues and strengths of whānau, hapū and iwi.
